Year 6 Leavers' Assembly 2024

Today we bid a fond farewell to our wonderful Year 6 children. The children sang a medley of songs and shared their memories over the past 7 years. Mrs Griffiths and Mr Mills both shared some words of encouragement to the children before the wonderful Mrs Healy and Miss Radford handed out the children's leaving gifts. Good luck children as you move onto secondary school; we hope you take the values bestowed on you into the future.

Rucstall Goes To The Beach!

The whole school enjoyed a visit to West Witterings this week as part of our 'Rucstall Promise'. This rather special event was the second of our whole school trips. The children enjoyed building sandcastles, digging in the sand, kite flying, frisbee and paddling in the sea. The lifeguards at the beach, for whom we were based next to, commented on how well-behaved the children were.

Paddling Whilst At The Beach

You can see the children enjoying paddling and splashing around; what a great experience for the children to have with their friends.

The Staff Enjoying The Visit!

As part of the visit, the school was able to share with the children our recent Ofsted grading. As you can see in the sand, the school has been graded outstanding in all areas! We hope parents and carers have had the opportunity to read our report.

This week, the children of Rucstall Primary School took part in their own 'General Election'. Mrs Earl led an assembly on Wednesday to inform the children of the seven parties, and their manifestos (a more basic, child friendly version). The children then revisited this in class on Thursday 4th July just before going in to vote. Every child present on the afternoon 4th July, went into a mock up polling station and made their vote. The children, as always, were incredibly enthusiastic and a real credit to their families. They took the vote extremely seriously and asked some very poignant questions leading up to it. The children had a long wait until Celebration Assembly to find out our school results.

Rowan Class enjoyed an action-packed day in the beautiful sunshine! The children headed to Southsea and enjoyed some time in the arcade whilst waiting for the hovercraft. Following this, the children enjoyed the 10 minute speedy crossing over to the Isle of Wight. On the island, the children enjoyed walking along Ryde Esplanade as well as time to play on the gorgeous sandy beach. The children then enjoyed a fun swimming session in the outdoor pool overlooking the beach.

It was wonderful to see so many positive male role models in school for 'Men's Appreciation Day'. Visitors enjoyed reading with their children and hearing about influential men in the world. The visitors also enjoyed playing games and enjoying some refreshments with the children. The children also enjoyed decorating the beautiful bookmarks which Mrs Sayer had made!

Easter Egg Hunt

The whole of Rucstall Primary School came together for their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Friday 19th April after it was rained off just before the Easter Break. The older children were paired up with the younger pupils as they headed off in search of eggs. The children followed the clues across the site and had to unscramble the letters to work out the secret code. The children's behaviour, as always, was impeccable and great fun was had by all. The event finished with a chocolate treat for every child which was kindly donated by the PTFA.
