Thank you so much to those who visited our Art unit display; it was such a pleasure to see you share your thoughts with your children. Thank you also to those who took the time to fill out the QR feedback, I will be sharing this with the children next week.

If you didn't get a chance to pop along, don't worry, take a look below at their stunning creations.

In Science the children have been looking at the text: The Three Little Pigs; they have been trying to work out which every day materials (not the usual bricks, straw or wood) would be the best for a house. The experiment was NOT a success.

    World Book Day 2026

Last week in PSHE, the children learnt how to make an emergency call. We watched lots of videos of examples, and then had a go at role playing a 999 call. The children took it in turns to be the operator and the caller.

Last week, the tree that I sent to home to you all, was decorated by the Night Gardener. We read the book, and then spent a lesson thinking about the characters' feelings throughout the text, and how they have changed since the arrival of the Night Gardener, just like Hazel Class. Take a look at our freeze frames below.

    Welcome back!

We hope you all had a relaxing Christmas break and enjoyed some time together as a family. We are so excited to welcome the children back to get stuck into Spring Term and the exciting learning opportunities that we have planned.

We hope you enjoyed watching the children in their final Nativity performance! Enjoy the pictures below from their glorious Nativity. We are all very proud.

Thank you so much for ensuring the children all looked the part in their costumes, this really helped bring all of their hard work together.

Yesterday, Tuesday 16th December, we were lucky enough to build our own Pudding Lane and watch the affect that the fire would have had. We must admit that it was quite hard to light the fire this year, as we were not blessed with the same weather as 1666, but we gave it a good go.

Last Friday, 5th December, Year 2 experienced their second Outdoor Learning session of this academic year. They were incredibly lucky, as Mrs Sayer created a bespoke session to enhance their History learning about the Great Fire of London. Thank you Mrs Sayer, we really enjoyed it, even if it was only 3 degrees!

Enjoy below the hundreds of pictures from our exciting trip to the Winchester Science Centre last week! The children were impeccably behaved and enjoyed many interactive stations, including an incredible show in the Planetarium.

Today, Friday 7th November, the children experienced the fire pit with the lovely Mrs Sayer: we hope this experience will support the children in writing descriptive diary entries as if they were part of the Great Fire of London! We look forward to reading them1

This half term 'Chance to Shine' are back, and we are one of the lucky year groups benefitting from their support. This afternoon the children had their first session, working on ball skills.

Take a look at our fantastic final pieces from our Autumn 1 Art unit, based on the work of Jan Griffier. We worked hard to create a silhouette and the look of burning flames behind them. Don't they look amazing?

In Writing we have begun looking at a new text: Vlad. The children have enjoyed listening to the text and hearing all about Vlad's adventure's during the Great Fire of London. We wanted to ask Vlad some questions, so we bought the flea to life using a clever app called ChatterPix. The children have been desperate to know the official app for download at home, please see below the print out I gave them to access it themselves. Happy Chatting!

Today, Friday 10th October, we dressed in yellow to raise awareness for young people's mental health. #helloyellow

This half term in Outdoor PE, Year 2 are developing their throwing and catching skills. During the first lesson, we tested their capability and intend to improve their accuracy, strength and all-round ability. Keep an eye on our page to see what else we have been doing in our learning!

    Welcome to Hazel Class

Hello and a warm welcome to Hazel Class. We hope that you have all had a fun and restful summer and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Please look at our class page regularly for updates, photos and to find out what we are learning!

Please look at your child's reading record to get started on their home learning and begin their Year 2 reading journey: remember, they should be reading wherever possible.

I wonder who will be the first to get their 25 reads?

We look forward to an exciting year ahead!
