Jeffy Diary: Entry 19

Hello Lime Class!

It has been a bit rainy this week hasn't it! I haven't been able to go out to play! It has been watering my plants though, they are getting very tall now, I will have to show you! This week in school we made some 'gods eyes'. They are like dream catchers that can protect us and take care of our worries. I have hung mine up in class to help the people in Lime Class.

Stay safe!

WB 6th June:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope that you are all well. Doesn't it feel like such a long time since we were last in school! I hope you have had a good week at home and that you have done some learning as well as doing some fun things!

We have been reading the book 'Danny the Champion of the World' which is one of my favourite books that my Dad used to read to me when I was little (I will link it below). Keep checking Spelling Shed and please upload any work to the sharing platform, I would love to see it!

Hopefully see you soon!

WB 29th June

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you have all been enjoying the sun this week but that you have been keeping safe as well and not getting burnt! It has been very, very, very hot in school as I am sure you can imagine! I have had all the windows open and we have still been melting! I have really enjoyed seeing some of your work on the online sharing platform, you have been working hard! Keep checking SpellingShed and have a look on 'more lists' for the assignments that I set, I will be handing out honeypot rewards for people who complete it!

This week in school we have been listening to George's Marvellous Medicine, I will link it below.

*Please remember to have a go at the bench design competition, it closes on the 3rd July!*

Look forwards to seeing you all soon

Miss Kay :)

HELLO!

I hope you have all had a good week! It has been SOO hot! With all my thick fur I don't usually like the weather to be this warm. I have been sat by the window in school to try and keep me cool! This afternoon we sat outside under the big tree and played with some windmills and bubbles, it was good fun! You can make bubbles using washing up liquid, maybe you'll have to try!

Jeffy Diary: Entry 17

Hello, Jeffy here!

I hope you all saw the teachers quiz this week and I am sure you all got the question about me right!!

Look at my plants! the sweet peas are huge! Almost taller than me! I can't wait for them to bloom and for you to see the flowers, I hope they are going to be beautiful colours. I am missing you all lots! x

WB 22nd June

Hello Lime Class!

I hope you are all staying safe and well. It has been good to see a few of you in and around school this week and I have really loved seeing what you have been doing on the 'online sharing platform'.

This week in school, we have been dodging the rain! As we finished Fantastic Mr Fox last week we decided to read 'The Twits'. We laughed a lot listening to this so I am sure you will as well! We also had a go at recreating the illustrations from the book 'The Suitcase' and followed along with the video, it was good fun!

Find this weeks 'Home Learning' below.

I hope to see you all soon!

Hello!

What awful weather this has been! I haven't been able to go out into the garden...but at least my plants are getting watered! We have been washing our hands lots in school to try and keep ourselves clean and safe.

We also made some nature frames using sticks and wool. We have hung them in the classroom.

Hope to see you soon,

Love Jeffy

WB 15th June

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you have all had a good week even with the rain! I wonder what cosy inside activities you got up to? Or maybe you just put the wellies on and braved it outside!

This week in school we have been looking at the book 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl, the children in school loved listening to the story so I hope you will too.

I got a copy of our class photo this week and I have hung it above my desk so I can see all of your lovely little faces.... :)

Well done to those who had a go at spelling shed!

Hope to see you soon

WB 8th June

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you are all well and staying safe!

I have been very busy in school last week with some of the children that are starting to come back in to school but it is very strange not having all of you there! Well done to all those who entered the competitions last week and well done to those people who had a go at the spelling shed assignments (there will be some honey pot rewards coming!).

Keep an eye on the 'video messages' page and have a go at the teachers quiz that is going up weekly!

Keep going and I hope to see you soon

Miss Kay

Hello Lime Class,

Now the school is opening to some children, I have had some new people in Lime Class. I am sad that you can't come back at the moment though. I hope you are still doing some learning at home without us! This week we read the story called 'The Colour Monster' and we were thinking about how to manage our worries! You might want to make a worry jar as well if you are feeling a bit worried. Also a 'thumbs up' from me, you are doing great!

The Color Monster

Jeffy Diary: Entry 14

Hello everyone!

I have been in school with Miss Kay this week and have been helping to make sure that the classrooms are ready for some children who might be coming back into school next week. We read the book 'The Worrysaurus' and created our own worry butterflies to have our worries outside of us. This was mine and Miss Kay's. Maybe you could make your own at home?

The Worrysaurus

Home Learning WB 1st June:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope that you all had a lovely half term and got to spend some time with your families. I hope that some of you managed to enter some of the competitions that were open this week and I look forward to seeing some of your entries!

Have a look at the 'video messages' section of the website and you might see a familiar face reading the quiz questions this week.

Keep checking for the assignments on spelling shed and I will be adding some honeypot rewards for people who complete them!

Hope to see you all soon!

Miss Kay

Jeffy Diary: Entry 13

Hello everyone!

I have been keeping an eye on my plants and Miss Kay has been helping to water them because it has been very hot and sunny this week. I hope you are all okay!

I just wanted to let you know... sometimes it can be a bit scary seeing people wearing masks over their faces and its strange as it is not something we normally see other than in hospitals or the dentists. But remember... they are doing it to keep themselves and you safe! (and most people are probably smiling underneath just like I am!)

WB 25th May:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you are all well, I wonder what you have been doing this week?

Given than next week would be half term, we are not setting our usual work. However, if you would like to keep occupied, and prefer some continued structure, we are posting three competitions for next week.

There will be a mathematics, English and science competition running. You can try as many of them as you like, it is up to you! But please remember to spend some time with your family and enjoy this lovely weather we are having.

All the information for the competitions are below.

Make sure you have a look at the 'video messages' section to see the quiz that the teachers are doing! See how many points you can get!

Keep happy and keep smiling!

Miss Kay

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you are all well and staying safe, I miss you very much!

I have been watering my plants everyday and my sweet pea seeds are growing! They are only little at the moment but soon they will be growing very tall!

I told Miss Kay she needs to get the weeds out of the pot!

I also planted some sunflower seeds, but something has eaten the leaves and it definitely wasn't me!

Home Learning WB 18th May:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope that you are all staying safe at home and have been enjoying a bit of sunshine. I wonder if anyone did anything fun for VE Day last week? It was lovely to see some of you enter the music competition, remember you still have until the end of the day (Friday 15th) to submit an entry! I hope you all managed to see the message and video that was uploaded and that you enjoyed it.

Here is your home learning for this week.

I have also attached the link for some lovely nature themed audio books if you fancy a listen!

Happy VE Day everyone!

I hope you have had a good start to the bank holiday weekend! I made some bunting and a flag to hold....okay Miss Kay helped a teeenie bit!

Home Learning WB 11th May:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you are all doing well! Here is your home learning for this week. If you haven't already seen it, there are a couple of surprises on the video messages page for you!

Also make sure you check out the music competition that was sent through!

I hope you have a good week, keep smiling!

Miss Kay

VE Day:

Hello everyone,

As I am sure many of you will know it is VE Day on Friday 8th May. This is a really important celebration as it marks the end of WW2. There are lots of celebrations planned across the country and special programs on the TV to watch. I thought you might like to learn some more about it. I have uploaded a powerpoint explaining in more detail and some bunting that you can print and colour to hang in your windows on Friday.

Have fun!

Home Learning - WB 4th May:

Hello Lime Class,

Here is your home learning for next week. It was lovely to talk to lots of you this week and see how you are getting on. Lots of people have been baking and doing arts and crafts. Lots of people have also been playing outside, bike riding and walking when the weather was better. Fingers crossed for sun next week!

Keep safe!

Miss Kay

Spelling Shed:

I have worked out how to set different activities and games on spelling shed. Have a look!

Jeffy Diary: Entry 10

I have been in school with Miss Kay this week and she tells me that she has spoken to lots of you. It sounds like you have been doing some fun things which is good! In school we made some faces that we can change the emotion of, I pretended mine was a mask!

WB 27th April:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you are all safe and well and that you are enjoying this lovely weather at the moment with your families.

If you can, see if you can read or listen to a book outside this week and enjoy the warm breeze and fresh air.

Keep safe and hopefully see you soon!

Miss Kay

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 9

Today I have been planting some seeds. It is spring time and that is the perfect time to plant ready to flower in the summer. I have been planting some Sweet Pea flowers. These smell really lovely when they have flowers so I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Did anyone spot what I was wearing...

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 8

Hello Lime Class, this week I have been playing the ukulele! I only have little arms so it has been a bit tricky but I'll keep trying!

Easter Holidays

Given that next week is the start of the Easter holidays, we will only be posting material for one of those weeks. This is to enable you some continued structure, should you desire this, but to also allow all families time to spend together during what would usually be a time without any school work.

Happy Easter from all the Rucstall Primary School Team!

Easter Weekend:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you are all safe and well during these strange times! It is so odd not seeing each other for such a long time and not really having ways to communicate. I hope you are enjoying some of the home learning and that you like seeing what Jeffy has been up to, he missed you very much (as do I!).

As per the notice above there won't be any work set for one of the weeks over Easter but I am uploading some fun activities in case you want something to do!

I am very proud of you all, keep going and hopefully see you soon!

Miss Kay

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 7

Hello Lime Class! Its Easter this weekend! I found a little basket nest to sit in.... although I'm not sure the chick is too pleased about it!

Have a lovely weekend!

Home Learning - WB 6th April

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 6

I am back at home with Miss Kay this week. I have been keeping busy and making my brain work by doing some puzzles and crosswords! Hope you are all safe and well, I miss you guys!

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 5

I went to the beach today! Well it had sand and the sun was shining... but other than that it was just the sand pit in the quad! It was fun though! Some of the children helped me make a sandcastle and a sand bear...he wasn't very chatty!

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 4

Hello everyone!

Miss Kay was at home last week but I am back in school with her this week learning and having fun with the children still in school. I have enjoyed being back in Lime Class yesterday but it isn't the same without the normal noisy Lime Class!

Friday 27th March 2020:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you are well and keeping busy!

Attached is the home learning for this week on the new school format. As it says on the document please do as much or as little as you can.

There is always additional tasks or ideas on the 'Learning for All' page of the school website.

Keep checking the website for updates.

Miss Kay

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 3

Today I have been learning my times tables on TTRockstars. Miss Kay let me borrow her account so I have sent you some challenges! I have learnt a lot sitting on top of the board in school so hopefully I'll get lots right!

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 2

I came home with Miss Kay and I have been enjoying the sunshine outside, she even let me borrow a pair of sunglasses! I have been relaxing and exploring what is around me as I usually don't get to visit many different places because I am always in Lime Class. After a close inspection of the flowers I have decided that they don't taste very nice and I would not recommend trying them....oops!

Introduction:

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you managed to find this page okay!

Keep checking it regularly as I will be updating it with work and other pieces of information. Right down at the bottom of the page there are some general tasks that it would be really good to keep doing. There is some handwriting practice (so you can shock me with your wonderful handwriting when we get back!), some spelling that we all need to know, our 'reading bingo' sheet so that you can keep going with that as well as some additional Maths questions that cover a wide range of areas. Towards the top of the page is where you will find the new work that I will set linked to what we were doing in school and our Romans topic.

Stay safe, well and happy!

Miss Kay

I have uploaded the times tables tests that we use in class so that the children can still keep up with their weekly test. The children should know what times tables they are working on.

They have 10 minutes to complete the test, they can do workings out on scrap paper if needed. They need to get 40/40 to move up on to the next tables.

I have uploaded them in the order that the children need to complete them so if they get all of them right they can have a look at the next set.

Speed Trial - they have 5 mins to try and get as many right as they can. If the children finish before the 5 mins is up note their speed as once they start getting them all right they have to try and reduce the time it takes them.

Monday 23rd March 2020 - Maths work

I will be uploading the Maths work for Monday so that you can look at it over the weekend. We are looking at multiplication. We are learning about the grid method. Below is a video that explains how to do it if you are unsure.

Please choose the star level that is most appropriate for you.

A video for Year 3 children and their parents showing how to multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number using the grid method.

Mrs Hemmings' Maths Group

Please only complete this work if you usually work in the community room with Mrs Hemmings during Maths. If this doesn't apply to you please see that Maths wok above.

Here is a video that might help the children of they need some extra help remembering how to divide by sharing. The worksheet says that the children can use counters to help, they can use any objects to share out (pencils, coins, rice, sweets e.t.c).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4S4rfMxnP8

Sorry that these were not working previously, hopefully you can access them now!

In our English lessons we have been working on our reading comprehension skills. The children can struggle to pick out the relevant information that the question is asking. We encourage the children to try and read through the text a couple of times before they start and try and find out some of the meanings of the words that they may not understand. When reading the question, the children can highlight or underline important words in the question to help them focus on that when looking for the answer.

Jeffy's Diary: Entry 1

He is safe and well and is still in school at the moment. Be sure to keep checking the website to follow what adventures (and mischief he gets up to!)

Thursday 19th March 2020

Hello Lime Class,

I hope you are all safe and well whether you are already at home or whether you are in school.

There are some new pictures from the Winchester trip as well as World Book Day and the Science afternoon for you to look at on the normal class page. I will be updating this (hopefully...) a couple of times a week so keep checking it!

Just a little update for you! In Maths we have finished our work on inverse and estimation and have just started to look at multiplication again.

In English we have been planning and writing our recounts linked to the book 'Escape from Pompeii'.

Here is a video of someone reading through the book that we have been looking at in English. If you have been off school, write a recount of what happens in a day of the character Tranio. Remember to write in first person, add descriptions using our senses (touch, taste, smell, hear, see) and see of you can use time conjunctions to start your sentences.

Reading

Reading 1

You can still carry on with your reading bingo! Use books that you might have at home to fill in the bingo sheet. Remember you need to fill in the booklet telling me what each book is about. I will be checking them whenever we are back.

Amidst the Coronavirus outbreak, some children are being sent home as a precautionary measure for the safety of their health.  In order to support their learning whilst self-isolating at home, I have uploaded some resources to support their learning further.  In the event of a school closure, there will be additional items uploaded on this page.
