INFORMATION ABOUT THE PHONICS SCREENING CHECK FOR YEAR 1 CHILDREN AND ANY YEAR 2 CHILDREN RETAKING THE TEST THIS YEAR.
Please visit Fir Class page for useful information and activity videos so that you can support your child with their upcoming phonics screening check in June.
I am so happy to see you all back after half term.
We are about to begin our topic of THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON.
We will be undertaking different roles and jobs to uncover the secrets of the fire. That is all I will reveal for now...
Although, I have already been amazed by the knowledge that the children have about the event. I think a lot of them visited the exhibition in London, and clearly enjoyed it very much, which is great news!
Thank you for your support and we are looking forward to another fantastic half term.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! And welcome back to a brand new term in Elm Class.
I hope that you are all well rested and ready to start our new topic of 'Dungeons and Dragons'.
The children have already been demonstrating their impressive wealth of knowledge on castles, the different features and what they were all used for.
It is already clear to see that this is going to be a topic enjoyed by many, which always leads to exciting writing and creative opportunities.
If any of the children have any books about castles or interesting objects from a visit to castle that they would like to share, please let me know. It would be fantastic to hear the children share their knowledge.
As always, if there are any questions, please ask.
Beware of the Storybook Wolves
I hope that everyone has had a lovely rest over the holiday and is ready for a new, fun filled half term.
We have already received some exciting news! An invitation has arrived to say that we are going to be attending a ball! We will now need to do some research into where this ball will happen and what we might expect.
To do this, we will be basing our work around 'Beware of the Storybook Wolves', which will give us lots of ideas about different fairy tales and what we see in them.
See below an outline of this term's topic and the homework project grid.
Welcome back to school!
We would like to welcome all of the children to Key Stage One at the start of this new school year!
We have already had a fantastic start to the year, with Year 2 setting a fantastic example to the new Year 1 children. We are sure that they will continue to work brilliantly together throughout the year.
We were very excited to discover a parachute on our first day back and we have already started asking lots of questions about what happened. We are sure that this will lead to a lot more exciting discoveries and new opportunities to learn new things.
Please continue to use our class pages to keep up to date with all of our goings on in Key Stage One and any homework reminders.
We are all very excited for a fantastic first half term!
